The waste
of electrical and electronic equipment is converted at the Recydur plant
into raw materials. The European directive on WEEE prescribes minimal
recycling targets of 75%. Our treatment facility meets this requirement
easily.
Our production process is characterised as below:
1. Manual sorting of hazardous substances like batteries, asbestos and
ink cartridges
2. Mechanical crushing of the material causing internal parts to be
liberated undamaged; freed internal batteries are sorted out manually
3. Crude iron is separated from the main stream; the main stream is
shredded
4. Several separating techniques separate aluminium, cupper, messing,
steel and cable. These metals are shipped to smelters, who convert them
into raw materials
5. After a last cleaning step a plastic mix remains, which – after
further processing - will be used as raw material for the production
of new plastics.
Treatment locations of WEEE have to answer to strict European and Dutch
regulations on environment and quality. Recydur possesses all relevant
licenses and provisions. The facility is among others equipped with
a water treatment installation and an automatic fire extinguishing installation.
